CEO


A 17-year media veteran, David U.K. is the founder and CEO of Cue Digital Media. Prior to starting cue, David has held multiple International senior posts in the online industry including Managing Director Worldwide of Heavy.com, Vice President Sales and Strategic Alliances at Standard Interactive, and Director of Sponsorship Sales at UGO Networks.

Prior to Cue Digital Media (formerly Digital Percent/Digital Brandz), David was the Managing Director Worldwide of Heavy.com, where he oversaw Heavy’s International operations, including all revenue, ad sales, affiliate relations, content licensing and distribution. Heavy is a leading broadband destination in Canada reaching the elusive 18-49 year old male, and 2.5 Million Unique Visitors in Canada. Since inception in January 2007 Heavy doubled its audience and tripled its revenue in Canada. David launched three Heavy TV shows on the Alliance Atlantis Canada Network – IFC, Showcase Diva and Showcase Action and established Heavy as a primary content partner with Virgin Mobile Canada.

In 2005 David launched and managed Standard Interactive, a Premiere Online Entertainment Network for Canada’s largest private broadcast company, Standard Broadcasting. David held the position of Vice President, Sales and Strategic Alliances. In 2008 Standard Broadcasting was acquired by Astral Media for 1.3 Billion.

David’s professional activities include; Professional Speaker; Chair, Video Committee – IAB Canada; Advisory Board – nextMEDIA: Monetizing Digital Media; Advisory Board – Interactive Ontario; Board Member IRC- Pro-Financial Asset Management Inc.

Internationally experienced, David has worked with a number of prominent media companies, including: Promenade Magazine, New York (VP and Publisher); UGO Networks Inc., New York (Director of Sponsorships, Sales and E-commerce); Shift Multimedia (East Coast Advertising Manager); and Time Warner, Hong Kong (Senior Advertising Manager).

He resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Chris Law

President


Law brings 25 years of media leadership experience to Cue Digital Media including launching AdSplash Media and leading the Meditative sales teams as its Chief Revenue Officer. Law has also held senior positions at Rogers Media, Bell Sympatico/MSN, Kontent Publishing and Famous Players media.

Law brings 25 years of media leadership experience to Cue including launching AdSplash Media – an early innovator in retail media and shopper marketing, that developed industry-leading programs for many national advertisers and retailers alike.

Following AdSplash Media’s sale to Meditative, Law oversaw the company’s high-performing sales team as its Chief Revenue Officer. As the Senior Director of Digital at Rogers Media, Law was responsible for development of the company’s digital sales infrastructure along with the full digital integration of the company’s numerous television, radio and publishing assets.

Law has also held senior positions Bell Sympatico/MSN, Kontent Publishing and Famous Players media.

Outside of the office, Law is an avid sailor and motorcycle enthusiast.


Kevin M. Shea

Advisory Board


Kevin Shea is a career executive in the entertainment, broadcasting, cable, on-line and cultural industries. Shea is the principal of SheaChez Communications, a consulting firm whose clients include an assortment of leading Canadian and U.S. communication companies.

Career highlights include the roles of founding President and CEO of YTV Canada where he led the company to numerous pillars of financial success and international critical acclaim for its first seven years of operation. Shea led the CRTC licensing and start up of Sirius Satellite Radio, Life Network, Prime TV and other TV stations across Canada. He has also served as President and COO of the Global Television Network and Atlantis Communications Inc.

Shea is presently involved with a variety of Canadian and U.S. companies as a Director and Advisor. These companies include the role of Chair of Social Gaming Universe, Intertainment.com, K2 Media Labs.com in New York and the Mount Pleasant Group, in addition to many others. In August 2006 Shea was appointed Chair of the Ontario Media Development Corporation.

Shea has always been active in the public and volunteer sector and is currently a Director of the Canadian American Business Council, the Marketing Board of the National Capital Commission, and the National Campaign for the Royal Conservatory of Music. He has also served on the boards of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, the Canadian Film Centre, and Banff Film Festival and was President of the Toronto Tourism Recovery Alliance in the aftermath of SARS. In addition, Shea is involved in a number of international fund raising efforts which has allowed him the opportunity to take a very active role in home building projects in Sri Lanka.

Born in Montreal and raised in Los Angeles and Toronto, Mr. Shea holds a B.A. in Canadian History from York University and attained his Executive Marketing Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1984. Shea has won numerous industry awards for his involvement in both charitable and business related causes, among them the Children’s Broadcasting Institute, Reach for the Top and the Canadian Marketing Association.


Brad Pelman

Advisory Board


Brad Pelman, a Canadian Film and Television Distribution Executive, is a content distribution expert. With 23 years of experience, Brad has deep understanding of the content creation, distribution and monetization process.

Pelman co-Founded and served as co-President of Maple Pictures until 2011 when the company was sold to Alliance Films. Following a successful transition of duties he launched Pelman Corp. Consulting and has been involved in numerous start-up digital and traditional, content initiatives. Pelman Corp. Consulting specializes in program distribution and marketing strategies. Pelman serves as President of Distribution and Sales for Cinecoup Inc. A disruptive new distribution platform seeking to change the way independent films in the $1-$5M budget range are packaged, financed and produced. He serves as Executive Producer on “Wolf Cop” accelerating to Cineplex theatres in Q1 2014.

Since 2010 Pelman has served as Co-Chair of the board of directors for The National Screen Institute, based out of Winnipeg, MB. NSI is Canada’s national film, television and digital media training school for writers, directors and producers.



Simon Jennings

Advisory Board


Simon Jennings is a pioneer in the Canadian Internet marketing and advertising industries. In his 19 years as an internet marketer, Simon has garnered success on both the entrepreneurial and corporate ends of Canada’s internet and media world.

In January 2006, he was appointed General Manager of Olive Media and LiveDeal Canada, both partnerships of Torstar Digital and Geseca Ltd, and led the launch
of Olive Media in July 2006. Simon was appointed President of Olive Media in 2008 and has been invaluable in shaping the successful
development of the firm’s presence in the online advertising market. In 2012, Simon was appointed Chief Revenue and Digital Officer of Post
Media Network Inc, the largest publisher by circulation of paid English-language daily newspapers in Canada, representing some of the
country’s oldest and best known media brands.

Some of Simon’s milestones over the past sixteen years include web
development and measurement at MGT and Planet Genesis, launching Canada’s first online ad network (ClickThrough Interactive), opening DoubleClick Canada, heading up sales at Yahoo! Canada, serving as Chairman of the IAB Board, and most recently, launching Olive Media. Through it all, Simon has come to understand that while
technology is a great enabler, finding smart, talented people who enjoy their work is what it takes to succeed.

Most recently, on December 3rd, 2012, Simon was appointed President of Gesca Media Sales Toronto, a subsidiary of Power Corporation of Canada. Gesca owns the news site lapresse.ca and seven daily newspapers: the French language national newspaper La Presse, Le Soleil, Le Nouvelliste, Le Droit, La Tribune, Le Quotidien and La Voix de l’Est.

Outside the office, Simon hones his skills at networking, golfing, and enjoying his family.


Tony Mutch

Director of Finance


Tony Mutch is a financial executive and entrepreneur with more than twenty years of business experience. He brings a thorough understanding of management accounting with a specialized focus in digital advertising over the past four years to the management team at Cue Digital Media.

Tony began his career in accounting with Deloitte & Touche, and gained valuable experience with a wide range of clients in various sectors including manufacturing and financial institutions. Using that business experience, Tony launched a hospitality group that owned and operated several bar/restaurants for almost a decade, and broadened his skillset to hospitality and entertainment finance and management.
Tony identified a need in the market for small business accounting, tax and human resource services. After selling the hospitality group, he started a business consulting firm that provided solutions for owner managed enterprises in the retail, hospitality, design and digital media industries.
In 2010, Tony joined Cue Digital Media as Financial Controller. He is responsible for accounting, finance, budgeting and administration.

Stephen Tapp

Advisory Board


Stephen is a proven leader in the media and entertainment sector with over 25 years of experience building and operating subscriber and advertiser based entertainment businesses. Over this period, Tapp has been involved in 4 startups all involving new licensing and new technology launches, experience he applies directly in his business advisory role at Cue Digital Media.

Tapp most recently was CEO of Mash Media Solutions Inc, (formerly Empirical) a VC backed, Toronto-based marketing solutions company specializing in offline and online marketing strategies and execution for leading brands such as Ford, Evian and Novopharm. Mash Media’s digital and social media marketing platforms have delivered outstanding community building results for well-recognized brands such as CBC, TSN, CMT, TSN, The Minnesota Vikings and the CFL.

Prior to Mash Media, Tapp held leadership and C-level roles including the President and COO of XM Satellite Radio Canada, several key senior leadership positions at broadcaster CHUM Limited (since purchased by CTV and Bell), as head of Citytv, head of broadcasting for Chumtv, including oversight of Chum Interactive, International and all stations across the specialty and conventional broadcast platforms, and founding Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Viewer’s Choice Pay Per View Network, a partnership between Rogers, TSN and Astral.

Tapp started in television as part of the programming team that launched and developed The Sports Network, TSN, Canada’s first all sports PAY TV channel. Representing the second generation of a Canadian broadcasting family, Stephen Tapp, whose father Jimmy Tapp, pioneered the live, celebrity talk show television format in Canada and was the voice of one of the longest running animated series, The Mighty Hercules, was born in Montreal and started his career in radio at CFQR FM Montreal and CFLY FM Kingston.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree with Honours from Queen’s University at Kingston. Tapp currently sits on several advisory boards in the digital space and recently joined the Foundation Board of The Toronto East General Hospital.
